Arbour Vale School gets Digital
Orchard Hill College & Academy Trust’s Digital School visited Arbour Vale School to deliver a day of digital discovery. A group of thirty enthusiastic pupils began their learning journey by stepping into a world of virtual reality, trying out 3D games designed by the Digital School to raise awareness of issues such as travelling safely. Pupils were flying through the air with the Red Arrows and swimming with the dolphins in open waters!
Pupils became designers, manipulating materials and creating motorised vehicles that took shape at high speed on the desktops. The green screen technology provided the pupils with their celebrity idols so that they could concentrate on striking the poses.
The Lego Education session also proved very popular as pupils put their coding and building skills into practice to create a Lego vehicle that could be activated to travel and perform tasks using an iPad.
Teacher, Sarah, said “pupils were mesmerised by the green screens and futuristic headsets. It was a brilliant session, enjoyed by everyone!”
The digital workshop was fully interactive, inclusive and engaging and left pupils planning their next steps. The digital team is looking forward to future sessions at the school.
