Arbour Vale School Enterprise Week and Market Day
Arbour Vale School recently held its Enterprise Week, a key feature of the school’s Careers Programme. The week was an opportunity for all pupils to develop their skills in communication, money handling, leadership, creativity and vocational awareness. Each class planned and developed its own business enterprise project, with the aim of running a market stall at the end of the week during ‘Market Day’. The classes came up with a wide range of business ideas, some examples included jewellery and gifts, pot plants, snacks, games and a car washing business.
In addition to market Day, we also had a two careers talks and an interview workshop for some of our older pupils, all delivered by guest speakers.
Friday morning saw the school hosting its own ‘Dragons Den’, in which some secondary and Post 16 pupils pitched their business enterprise project to our own ‘Dragons’ (members of the Senior Leadership Team). A small group of pupils became a film crew for the week. The film is now being edited and will be our very own documentary about Enterprise Week.
The week was a great success. Many parents and visitors attended Market Day, an event enjoyed by everyone. The pupils and class staff deserve a very big ‘thank you’ for all their hard work and enthusiasm!
