Autism Support Group
Arbour Vale School hosted another successful Parents Support Group on Tuesday 5th July. This was a coffee morning event for parents of Arbour Vale School as well as individuals from the wider community. 21 families attended the event and feedback has been extremely positive.
The session was organised and facilitated by the Autism Support Group, with guest speakers offering a wealth of information and expertise: Steve Sansom a Healthwatch officer from Healthwatch East Berkshire and Jo Mullins Family Services Team Leader in the Targeted Early Help department from Slouch Children First (Local Authority).
Parents found the information beneficial and it was wonderful to see members of our community together, supporting one another positively and engaging in the progress and development of the pupils at Arbour Vale School.
Parents overwhelmingly indicated that they felt positively about the information presented. They indicated that they enjoyed the group elements and discussion, they found, “learning and listening from other parents” very useful. Another parent stated, “we can share our stories”. The feedback is consistently indicating that parents want us to continue to offer this style of course, “well done keep it up… it’s very informative”.
