We are incredibly grateful to Dr Sanjay Sethi and his friends who climbed Ben Nevis over the Easter period and raised a substantial amount of money for the school. Many in the school community will recognise Dr Sethi from his visits to Arbour Vale to give advice on Special Care Dentistry.

Dr Sethi said, “Thank you all so much for your donations, support and encouragement for the four of us to complete the climb. It helped us all push on and achieve our charity goal for Arbour Vale School. We set out with an aim to try and raise £2000 and with all your kind donations we nearly tripled that figure raising £5,521.86, which is unbelievable.”

Mr Neil Sykes thanked Dr Sethi and his friends Paul, Carl and Lee on behalf of the school community, “We are so grateful to them for taking on this challenge and raising such a large amount of money. It has been a real inspiration to follow their Ben Nevis climb and this donation which will go towards enabling our pupils to overcome their own challenges and create happy memories for them too.”

This is their second big challenge; last year Dr Sethi wanted to get out of his comfort zone and the four friends decided to climb Mount Snowdon. They made it to the summit following the trekking route and, on the evening after they completed the climb, they decided to set themselves a new goal. The group set their sights on Ben Nevis, a more challenging peak and chose to raise money for Arbour Vale School to spur them on for this year’s challenge.

“It is a school which really touched my heart, when a few years ago, I was invited to give a talk to parents, guardians and carers on how to improve the children’s oral health care. I didn’t know what to expect and was completely overwhelmed by what I had experienced. The school’s staff are so passionate about their purpose for the children. They give them such a wonderful opportunity to develop life skills, receive an education and make them feel so special, as they truly deserve. Life is about moments, and we have the opportunity give these children some wonderful memories,” Dr Sethi explained.
