Our Norbot goes on display

In the summer term, Norbot, the robotic garden gnome character from the Wallace and Gromit animation films, came to pay us a visit and all classes were tasked in designing a Norbot.  In art classes some of our Key Stage, 3, 4 and Post-16 students were given the task of painting and decorating him using some of the designs classes had come up with.

Over the last six weeks of the summer term the students worked with our art teacher, Ms Thomas to carefully paint our Norbot. Once he was completed, Norbot was taken back to Bristol, to be part of ‘The Grand Appeal’ for Bristol Children’s Charity.

In September, a small group of the students who had been involved went to Bristol to see our Norbot, ‘Mr Arbie’, on display alongside the others created by schools in the Exhibition. It was lovely to see all the different pieces people had created. We were also delighted to find out that Mr Arbie had been chosen from all the entries to feature on the poster advertising the exhibition!

We braved a walk over the Clifton Suspension Bridge and stopped for lunch by the SS Great Britain, before making our way back to school.

All students who took part in the making of Norbot really shone and worked so hard to create him. A particular shoutout goes to Angel, for creating Norbot’s face. And Teagan, for helping with the details and refinements. Well done to everyone involved.
