Post-16 Students Make a Difference at Signature Care Home
Twice a week, a group of Abour Vale School’s Post-16 students dedicate their time to supporting the residents at Signature Care Home, gaining valuable experience while making a positive impact in the community.
The students attend two mornings each week and take part in a variety of activities designed to bring joy and companionship to the residents. From sharing conversations and keeping residents company to assisting with gentle fitness sessions, serving tea and coffee, and even folding napkins, their contributions help create a warm and welcoming environment.
This experience not only develops practical skills such as communication and teamwork but also teaches the importance of empathy and respect for others. Students have expressed how rewarding it feels to brighten someone’s day and learn more about careers in health and social care.
We are proud of their commitment and enthusiasm, and we thank Signature Care Home for providing such a meaningful opportunity. Partnerships like this help prepare our students for life beyond school while strengthening community connections.
