Prime Minister for the Day

Pupils at Arbour Vale School held their own election to vote in a Prime Minister for a special Parliamentary Day.

Three candidates put themselves forward and created their own manifestos with lots of amazing ideas on changes they would like to make to improve our school. They created video manifestos which were shown to classes, not only in their own Key Stage but across the school. It took a lot of bravery to put themselves forward, so a huge congratulations to all three candidates.

During the week of the national election, classes watched their videos and every pupil had the chance to vote for their favourite candidate. This process was made as inclusive as possible with each candidate having a coloured box and pupils voted by putting their token in the box of their preferred candidate.

Many congratulations to Lilly-Jo who secured the most votes and was duly elected Prime Minister of Arbour Vale School for the day on Friday 12th July.

One of Lilly-Jo’s key election pledges was to hold a non-school uniform day and many staff and pupils came to school dressed in red to show their support as this was the colour of her ballot box and posters.

It was a fabulous day and a great opportunity for pupils to get an understanding of an election and to make it as inclusive a process as possible.
