Round the world in a day
We celebrated Diversity Day across the whole school on Friday 5th July. This was a fantastic opportunity to take a trip around the world and celebrate our diverse community in just one day!
Staff and pupils came into school wearing traditional clothes that reflected their heritage and what an amazingly colourful array was on display!
We started the day with performances, music and dance in the main hall. There were many highlights, but everyone was impressed with the Post-16 students’ knowledge of French which they shared with the whole assembly. There were also many dances and opportunities for everyone to get involved.
After the Post-16 and Secondary Assembly, it was the turn of Primary pupils who were similarly colourful and enthusiastically shared the dances and music from their chosen country.
Then it was back to class bases for craft activities from the region adopted for the day. This included painting flags and creating rainforest collages as we all learnt about the geography, language and culture of different regions of the world.
There was also food from around the world to be enjoyed and the day finished with an assembly for our PMLD learners.
Thank you to everyone for taking part in our wonderful trip around the world.
