Seeing our ‘Dream Horse’ at Ascot

Towards the end of last academic year, some students in Key Stage 4 and Post-16 attended the ‘Dream Horse’ workshop with the Busy Buttons Charity. They created pieces that were put together and combined with work from other groups to create a ‘Dream Horse’.

The Horse represented sustainability and was created using only recycled materials. The project was sponsored by Ascot Racecourse, being displayed there over this summer’s Race Season.

The students involved were invited down to see the finished piece, in September of this year. We were given our own guided tour of the course, learning about its history and architecture. We ended our tour with a meeting Side Eye, an 18-year-old retired racehorse.

Students confidently asked questions and spoke about their involvement with the piece. It was lovely to see Connor, Marcus, and Ali in particular, show confidence and respect when walking round the grounds.
