Students Develop Digital Skills in ICT Workshop
Students at Arbour Vale School recently took part in an exciting digital skills workshop delivered by the Three Discovery Programme, a national initiative from Three that helps young people build confidence using technology and creative media.
The fully funded ICT workshop gave students the opportunity to explore different forms of digital storytelling and animation through hands-on activities using iPads and specialist apps.
Exploring Creative Digital Skills
Throughout the day, students participated in three interactive workshops designed to introduce them to different types of digital media and animation techniques:
-
Cartoon Making – Students created their own animated stories using characters, voiceovers and digital backgrounds.
-
Stop Motion Animation – Using Lego models and photography, pupils captured frame-by-frame images to produce short animated films.
-
Green Screen Movie Making – Students filmed themselves presenting their favourite interests before adding digital backgrounds to bring their videos to life.
Each activity encouraged creativity, communication and problem-solving while helping students develop practical ICT and digital storytelling skills.
Collaboration Across Age Groups
A key focus of this year’s workshop was inclusion and collaboration. Students from different age groups worked together in mixed teams, allowing older and younger pupils to share ideas and support one another throughout the activities.
The approach created a highly inclusive learning environment where students could build confidence, experiment with new technology and celebrate each other’s creativity.
Students were fully engaged throughout the workshops and produced a fantastic range of cartoons, animations and short films by the end of the sessions. The activities provided a valuable opportunity to develop digital skills, teamwork and creativity in a fun and supportive setting.
We would like to extend a big thank you to the Three Discovery team for delivering another inspiring workshop and giving our students the chance to explore new technology and creative media.
