About us
Orchard Hill College (the College) and Orchard Hill College Academy Trust (the Trust) together form Orchard Hill College and Academy Trust (OHC&AT), a family of specialist education providers for over 800 pupils and students aged from two to 24 years of age across London, Surrey and Sussex.
Pupils and students within the OHC&AT family of providers have a wide range of learning abilities and additional needs including complex autism; speech, language and communication difficulties; social, emotional and mental health; and physical disabilities including multi-sensory impairment and complex health needs.
The College was established in 1983 and now operates from six college centres across London. In 2013, the College established the Trust to share its expertise and provide services and support to specialist schools. The Trust is now home to nine special schools across London, Surrey and Sussex.
The uniqueness of OHC&AT is that it is fully representative of all designations of special education needs and disabilities. Across the whole organisation there are a range of experts and practitioners who advocate for children and young people with special education needs and disabilities to ensure they receive the best possible opportunities to achieve their full potential.
Charitable status
Both the College and the Trust are charities and are each able to fundraise. Whilst the College is a registered charity with a registered charity number, the Trust is an exempt charity and is not required to be registered with the Charity Commission. OHC&AT is the umbrella name for both OHC and OHCAT and is not a charity.
Our Approach to Fundraising
We will raise funds for specific projects that will benefit existing and future pupils and students where funds for these projects cannot be accessed via existing channels i.e. government education funding.
We will fundraise for projects that will provide opportunities and enhance the learning experience and environment for our pupils and students.
Fundraising will be undertaken through a partnership of both the College and Trust charities under the OHC&AT umbrella. Fundraising materials will clearly state what the funds will be used for and the beneficiaries of the project.
The code of fundraising practice will be followed https://www.fundraisingregulator.org.uk/5-0-fundraising-communications-and-techniques/.
