Supporting Families Through Parent Workshops
Arbour Vale School recently welcomed families to two parent workshops designed to offer practical support, shared learning and the chance to connect with others navigating similar experiences.
The first session focused on PACE strategies and was led by Educational Psychologist Abi Gilbert. PACE stands for Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy, and gives parents practical ways to support children when they are feeling anxious, worried or dysregulated.
Parents said the workshop helped them better understand emotions and behaviour, how to stay calm when their child is struggling, and how connection can make a real difference at home.
The second session, Tea with TAG, was delivered in partnership with The Autism Group. The informal workshop created space for parents and carers to meet professionals, access useful SEND information and speak with other families.
Families shared how valuable it was to connect with others, ask questions and feel part of a supportive community.
These workshops are part of Arbour Vale School’s ongoing commitment to working closely with families and ensuring parents feel informed, supported and empowered to help their children thrive both at school and at home.
